Sobia and Akmal enquired with Verve about Fostering together as a family. We were delighted to refer them to Caritas Care, a Not for Profit charity that reflected the skills and experiences that they have to offer a child. And as a result; they are now in assessment with a panel set for October 2019. Sobia and Akmal shared with Verve their reasons for becoming Foster parents with their own family, and how they have decided to do this while their own family was young.
Sobia and Akmal; our fostering journey.
‘We believe that fostering can offer us immense joy and reward, helping our children to develop their strengths by teaching them to care and help others. Our children will be able to share their experiences with our foster children so that they can all achieve the best they can. The important thing is for them all to stay safe and be happy together in a loving environment.
Fostering for us is a family commitment.
Together; we see fostering as being a part of our family unit and a part of our lives. It is a collective family commitment and one where we can offer our many different skills and experiences to support the children in our care. Our children are already thinking of ways to help our foster children feel welcomed into the family!
Fostering is where we face our challenges together.
Fostering will allow us to go on a journey together; as a family, with our foster children and is subsequently where we will face the challenges together; embracing the happy times ahead. This journey into foster care is where we will create memories together; as a family.
Our experiences of raising our own family will enable us to support our foster children; because ultimately; we want them to feel a sense of belonging by offering children love, stability, and security in a family home.
Helping children to get their voices heard.
Being advocates for children and helping them to be heard is important to us as a family. We will support our foster children to become independent and resilient individuals who can function in society; this is crucial to us.
Helping children to achieve their full potential in life.
We want all our children to have their own independent lives; using the skills eventually, they have learned. These skills will help them to succeed and achieve their full potential in life.
Being a significant adult in a child’s life.
We want our foster children to grow and develop in all areas, knowing that they have significant adults in their lives that they can talk to and rely upon. We will be their significant adults; because to us; they are our family!

Verve is proud to work together with Sobia, Akmal and their family with Caritas Care on their fostering journey. We connected them with Caritas Care; a Not for Profit fostering charity in Preston because we knew that they were the right fit for each other. Ultimately; all the family makes your decision to foster; and collectively, we work together to ensure that we get it right for everyone.
